It is will sorrow that i have to announce the passing of Life Member and a Past President – Lance Closter (87).
With Lance’s passing, we have lost one of our oldest links in history with his family being club pioneers going back to the early 1900’s. His father was involved with the construction of Mt. Waverley Reserve in 1925.
Lance started playing in the late 1940’s and started serving the off-field committee roles from 1950.
He would become President in 1984 for 4 seasons.
In recent years he was a member of the balcony club, turning up occasionally to watch the proceedings taking place and always relating a good and entertaining story of days gone by.
He will certainly be a loss to not only the club but the local community and all those he came in contact with.
More information will soon be released as his involvement and family history holds a valuable cornerstone with the foundation of the Mt. Waverley Cricket Club as well as Mt. Waverley regional history.
Condolences to Murray, Wayne and family.
